Author Micro Biography

Michel de MontaigneMichel Eyquem de Montaigne (1533-1592) was a French statesman and author and a leading philosopher of the French Rennaisance. His work has had a significant influence on many writers over the past four centuries, ranging from Descartes and Pascal to Ralph Waldo Emmerson and Isak Asimov. Montaigne, who was Roman Catholic, was recognized as a moderating influence between Catholics and Protestants during France's Wars of Religion, respected by leaders of both factions. His most influential literary works are his autobiography, known for its deep intelletual content, and his Essais, a massive collection of writings on various subject.
